The LA Fitness by Wellington Green Isn't Coming Back as LA Fitness. Here's What Club Studio Actually Is.

October 22, 2026

The LA Fitness at 10180 Forest Hill Blvd closed on September 1, 2026, after more than two decades on the edge of The Mall at Wellington Green. The 35,000-square-foot building isn't going to sit empty. It also won't reopen as the same kind of gym. Fitness International, the company behind LA Fitness, plans to reopen it as Club Studio. That brand sells boutique classes and recovery services, and at its Miami club the basic plan currently costs $199 a month.

For anyone in Wycliffe who used that gym, or just drives past it on Forest Hill, the change matters for three reasons. The business model is different, the price range is different, and for now no announced terms carry old LA Fitness members into the new club.

What was confirmed in August

The Palm Beach Post broke the story on August 11 and updated it August 13. It reported that a notice on the front door announced the closure, and that an employee at the location confirmed the September 1 date. The company had not given a public reason. Wellington planning director Tim Stillings confirmed to the Post that Fitness International plans to reopen the building as a Club Studio.

The Post described the change as part of a wider shift:

"The move is part of a broader effort by Fitness International to shift some of its lower-cost traditional LA Fitness locations toward high-end wellness clubs offering specialized classes and premium amenities."

The same article said several South Florida LA Fitness gyms have closed or announced closures as part of the transition, including locations near Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Stuart and Fort Lauderdale. One of the closures is easy to date. Boca Post reported that the LA Fitness at 7060 Beracasa Way in Boca Raton would close on August 5. The company did not comment on its plans for that space. Wellington is the one with a confirmed Club Studio plan. As of October 19, 2026, the official Club Studio club finder lists three Florida clubs: Miami-Worldcenter, Coconut Grove, and "Wellington - Forest Hill Blvd (Coming Soon)" at 10180 Forest Hill Blvd, with a VIP sign-up list and no opening date.

The new tenant is built around classes and recovery

The Post described the Club Studio concept as boutique-style studios offering HIIT, cycling, boxing, Pilates, yoga and trampoline-based workouts. It also includes recovery areas with cryotherapy, massage and physical therapy.

The best preview is the brand's first Florida club, at Miami Worldcenter. Community Newspapers covered its arrival in November 2025. It has five studio formats: CS4 strength-and-HIIT, boxing, indoor cycling, heated yoga and reformer Pilates. It also offers cryotherapy and recovery services, massage and recovery equipment, towel service, personal training, a Kalologie Medspa and a Beaming healthy marketplace.

That list describes the brand, not the Wellington plan. The Wellington club's layout, amenities and prices have not been announced. What it does show is the type of business moving into the building. The old gym sold access to equipment. The new one sells scheduled studio classes and services you book. If Wellington follows the Miami model, many of those services will cost extra on top of the monthly membership.

What Miami members pay right now

As of October 19, 2026, the Club Studio membership page for Miami-Worldcenter lists these rates:

Miami-Worldcenter plan Monthly Initiation fee Due at signup
Standard, 1 person $199 $0 $398, first and last month
Standard, 2 people $378 $0 First and last month
Standard Plus $239 $0 First and last month
Premier, all-club and multi-state access $249 $0 First and last month

The same page says the listed plans charge extra for cryotherapy and recovery services, and prices may vary or change by location. So $199 is a reference point, not the Wellington price. Even so, Miami's entry price for one person comes to $2,388 a year before any recovery add-ons. The Post's own description put the old LA Fitness in the company's "lower-cost" category. Expect a Wellington membership to cost more than the old one did.

Old memberships do not turn into new ones

The closure notice said current members would get access to all other LA Fitness locations nationwide starting September 1. The Post identified the nearest one as being in Lake Worth Beach, about 5 miles away.

That notice, as the Post described it, covered other LA Fitness clubs and said nothing about Club Studio. Questions about billing, contracts or a future move to Club Studio go to LA Fitness member services.

The timing is also open. No opening date has been announced, and no construction schedule has been published. The "Coming Soon" label on the club finder is the latest official word.

Where the Forest Hill crowd can train in the meantime

Wycliffe's own fitness options are covered in our active living guide. For anyone who wants a full outside gym while the building is dark, these are the closest options in and around Wellington:

  • Crunch Fitness Wellington, 12799 Forest Hill Blvd, a full gym toward the west end of Forest Hill
  • YouFit Gyms, 13865 Wellington Trace, a budget-priced gym
  • Planet Fitness Royal Palm Beach, 10463 Southern Blvd, open 24 hours on weekdays
  • Cat 5 Fitness, 3125 Fortune Way, group fitness classes
  • LA Fitness Lake Worth Beach, about 5 miles away and covered by existing Wellington memberships under the closure notice

Some of these are other low-cost gyms, and some are class-based. Club Studio will join the class-based side when it opens.

What changes on that corner of Forest Hill

The building is part of the same Wellington Green corner where the mall itself has been adding experience-driven tenants, a shift we covered in our look at the mall's two same-day openings. Club Studio fits that pattern. It is a paid destination with scheduled classes, a medspa model and a café-market at its Miami flagship, not a drop-in room of machines.

Treadmill-and-weights routines now have the gyms listed above or the drive to Lake Worth Beach. Anyone already paying separately for reformer Pilates, cycling classes or recovery sessions may find Club Studio combining several of those under one roof a few minutes from Wycliffe's gate, at a price that won't be known until Fitness International posts a Wellington rate page.
